Residual income---revenue sharing, that’s the ticket! To become a freelance writer meant looking for writing jobs that allows freelance writers to see the fruit of our labor, albeit the few dollars that the content marketing mills, the jobs on O’desk.com and other freelancing job sites pay. Nevertheless, after being paid for those freelance copywriting,we have to start all over again and find more upfront jobs to keep our revenue stream going.
A more long-term solution to earning money (which also takes a long term to accomplish) is building a stable of articles built to attract popular searches and bring in traffic over the long term to supplement our earnings.
Residual income comes from the sales of Google Ad Sense, Amazon. Com, Ebay.com and the like, which may only be pennies per month at first. However, with the right optimization, it is possible for these articles to climb in the search engines results driving traffic to the site and turning those pennies into dollars each month. The more content earning a few dollars per month times the number of articles could turn into a respectable amount of money. For example, 100 articles times even one dollar per month coming in for years and years for the same articles is better than the $6 paid by some upfront sites.
The ultimate goal, of course would be to turn those into more than a hundred dollars per month and have your own-hosted website or blog that ranks in the top 100 websites---lots a luck on that one---but still a goal worth having. One theory supports the idea of writing for revenue sharing sites that hosts your blog free when you are first starting out in order for your articles to benefit from the established Page Rank already enjoyed by the hosting site. There is no doubt that It is also helpful to be part of the hosting site’s community in terms of social networking, getting page views and learning before investing any real money into your venture.
However, some writers do both; write for their own self hosted site and blog about it on the free revenue share sites and back linking their articles to each other.
I have yet to take the self-hosted site plunge. Obviously, I am already writing on one of the free-hosted revenue share site, HubPages.com, and I am now looking into other revenue sharing sites in order to compare the earnings, the community and the benefits.
This is what I have found so far. I have tried to give a link to each site and the site’s Page Rank at the time of this article. You will notice the information on many of the sites is more specific than others. One reason some entries are vaguer than others is that 1) the website itself is vague about the share of revenue details or 2) I have not done enough research to find out what the revenue share percentage is yet. In addition, note that the Page Rank of each site is merely a guide and does not necessarily mean you will get more revenue writing for one over another since variables such as revenue share percentages and type of articles written for each site are impossible to predict. If you have any experience with any of these sites or any other sites, please feel free to comment.
Just like my other Hubs, I will continue to update the list from time to time as I learn or gain more experience about each site, so stay tuned!

This guest post is by Anurag Bansal of Techacker. Owners of WordPress.org blogs don’t get the flexibility to post by email through a WordPress service. Wow, great hub with lots of useful information on sites that share revenue. Voted up and awesome! Thanks for writing this!
Thank you for providing this useful information.
Thank you for providing this useful information.
Great listings, never heard most of them. Thanks for sharing. Useful, Voted up and Shared!
What a useful list here Patti. I am glad I came across it to read. Thanks for always taking time to read my articles, you are so kind. Take care :)
Note that on Squidoo, you can also embed your own Amazon, Zazzle, AllPosters or other affiliate links. It's definitely the way to go with Zazzle and Amazon. You keep ALL your sales commissions, then, and the Squidoo ad payouts on top of that are a nice bonus!
I'm making about $700/month from Squidoo payouts, plus another $100/month (and growing) from Amazon and other affiliate links embedded on Squidoo pages. I'm trying to expand outside Squidoo, but so far haven't really gained traction anywhere else.
You can earn 42 Dollar daily by doing 3 survey answer 10 easy question.
The process is rather simple. You give this link to any person, and he/she registers an account on Survey-Faq. When he/she registers in partners program, you will get $ 15 as a fee. Also you will get 20% from his earnings for each filled survey by him/her.
For instance, if this person earns $ 100 a day, you will get extra $ 20 to your account. So this person is considered your partner. Give this link to your friends or familiar people at some forums and your earnings will increase.
Your advantages:
1) For each registered person by your link you get bonus – $ 15
2) You get 20% of your partner’s earning for doing the surveys by him/her.
3) Your get $ 14 for doing a survey

Really helpful. DevHub looks really interesting. Thanks for the info. Voted up.
Hello. Great hub. I'm currently writing my own hubs and slowly joining other blog sites. I would like to join Best Reviewer, but when I click on try to go to their registration page, I get the 404 message. Do you know if they are accepting new writers/bloggers? I noticed your link is not your own referral link. Are you a member of Best Reviewer? Thanks in advance and again, this is a great hub with lots of good information. Have a wonderful day.
I'm a member of http://snipsly.com. They share 80% of adsense revenue.
Recently found http://boostplace.com. They share 80% of adsense and chitika revenue. Going to give this a try. Just need a chitika account.
You will get there, Patti! You have to remember how long I have been doing this! I remember the Internet being a place you could not go without a password and a mainframe...Not to age me or anything ;)
Your hubs already have more than 1K page views, which says a lot. Review sharing sites are all about page views. If writers do not already have reputations, mills are a great way to establish themselves. If you want to test the theory, Google yourself (+writing) before a mill and again after. The PR factor cannot be ignored.
Marketing mill articles can (and often does) lead to freelance gigs dropping in your inbox.
It is all page views with a bizarre algorithm factoring the PR of the title page, number of articles, SEO value and a thumb-on-the-scale weighing of the ads on the page. My stable is relatively small (around 400) compared to others who stuck with the non-stop production. Those writers have up to 2,500 articles.
For the small time investment of rating (other writer's articles for page placement), the return is really good. If you take the time to learn the game, it can be lucrative. I have friends still there making a few (as in more than 2) hundred a month between contests, upfront payments and qualified assignments.
My favorite choice is the stock content option. I have one article which is purchased every year by the same website. The $5 for an article already (and still) earning trickles and with zero effort from me is welcome every time it comes through the earnings page.
I have been at Helium since beta. It is a relaxed income stream for me. I have a good stable of articles and 20 zones which are a static version of a paper.li. Yahoo! (The old AC) is another dormant income stream as well.
I will return to the self-hosted blog when my current free-host reaches a pre-determined number of hits each day, likely before the end of the month.
What I have gathered from my colleagues is: Your revenue is directly proportional to the amount of marketing you do. Even during hiatus times for me, I have steady income. When I want more, I just need to market.
Great list.
Great hub and it added to my knowledge. Thanx for sharing Patti
Hi Patti,
Thanks for the great information (and for visiting my page). I am sure I will be referring to your hubs often.
Thanks Patti Riggs Hale,a rather useful and informative bit of information.
Thank you for the useful list!!
RitePad is another revenue sharing website that allows backlinks also.
Since I am only on two different sites and only just started Webanswers yesterday, Hubpages is giving me the most revenue. Time will tell how well webanswers pays.
