How to Find Sites to Write For

As I have explained in other hubs, when I first started trying to find ways to find work from home writing, I naturally assumed I would be able to type in a search term and just bring up a list of websites that would want me to do writing for them----not!

Only after many hours of searching and compiling did I begin to see a pattern as to the different ways writers are paid for writing: ghostwriting, revenue sharing, pay for reviews, etc.

As I found information, I started making a list and dividing the websites into the different categories that have become the subject of my Hubs.

For this particular category, I have collected a list of websites that are actively advertising for writers by including a page on their website named "Write for Us". These are not content mills, although some do pay upfront or upon publication. You don't have to bid on these jobs, although you will need to email some of them in advance to ask if they are interested in your article, and you won't be sharing revenue for selling articles to these sites. Your article will give you exposure and a nice link to your work to put on your resume besides better than average pay in most cases.

Before submitting an idea or a finished piece of work, it is always a good idea to look over the style and subject matter of the site in advance. For example, you would not want to submit an article on a subject that has already been covered recently or even off topic in an inappropriate style.

How did I find these websites asking for writer's submissions? I typed in the search term: "Write for Us" in Google and this is what I got:

I did visit each of the websites to get the information. I have not, however, written for all of them. I did eliminate some because of bad reviews. I assume all of them would take writers from anywhere, but couldn't really tell you that for sure. I don't recall any specifically saying they wouldn't. Since I have provided the links it would be pretty easy to check it out yourself. ;-)

Wow, this really is an impressive list. If I hadn't found a new job so quickly when I got laid off in August, I would probably have really welcomed this list. Now I haven't the time. Voted up and useful.
